Balancing fitness with parenting!

We understand the unique challenges that moms face, particularly those with young children. Self-care should be number one on your list, because healthy moms raise happy kids!

Here’s why!

Being a mom is a busy balancing act where you need to make time to look after your body!

4 Fit Mom Tips:

#1 Make time!

Being a mom is a full-time job and whether you are at the baby-bawl, toddler-cling, soccer-mom, or teen-tude stage, finding ‘me time’ can seem as rare as a month of Sundays. The only way to find time, is to MAKE time! Pencil it into that wall chart, set a reminder on your cellphone, make a date in your digital calendar. AND be sure to HONOUR it!

Let’s face it, “Mom Friends” are just about the biggest besties out there! Wouldn’t it be great to have your “Mom Friend” by your side to take on a new class together, throw in the towel with a smile after your workout, and wind down with a chatty coffee or juice moment in our lounge area?

The one constant is – that EVERY time you go to the Club, you walk out feeling like a NEW woman, ready to tackle the world – and the kids – again.

We are a gym for moms with young kids, and select clubs have a Planet Kids facility where you can drop off your littlies in a safe environment with our friendly team! No more “mom guilt”. While your young tribe burns off some of their boundless energy, you can boost yours! Click the link to see if there are childcare at gym facilities near you on the club locator.

Teens train free on a parent’s membership if they are aged between 13 – 17 years. It’s a chance for them to workout independently and find their feet at the gym, and it’s a great way to spend time sharing a favourite class, or to train together on the floor. Engaging in physical activities with your children creates opportunities for quality bonding time!

Make the most of your gym time!

  1. Schedule your workouts.
  2. Plan ahead to select and find out about classes:
    • EARTH – wellbeing classes include yoga and Pilates.
    • WIND – cycling, aerobic, high-impact, dance, step, and body conditioning.
    • FIRE – including some of our ‘just-arrived’ Booty Builder equipment for
    women.
    • WATER – get aqua fit!
  3. Where available, make use of Planet Kids, and build a community of support.
  4. Train with a ‘Mom Friend’ to stay motivated!
  5. Set realistic goals – start small and build up gradually.
  6. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Our super friendly team is here to support you so that you can get going on time!

#2 Handle the challenge!

Prioritizing your fitness is not a luxury – it’s a necessity. The benefit of exercise for moms is wonderful:

• Physical activity will help you to maintain a healthy weight, improve your cardiovascular health, condition and tone your body, improve bone density and work your core muscles.

• And then there’s that one thing that is so essential for keeping up with your little ones – endurance!

• From increased energy levels to reduced stress and anxiety, exercise releases endorphins, the body’s natural mood lifters, leaving moms feeling happier, more relaxed, and better equipped to handle the everyday challenges of parenting!

#4 Find your fit!

Take a stroll or jog with your partner on the running track, centre yourself with a yoga class, feel energised with dance fitness, get pumped by being box fit, or do a gentle aqua fit class – there’s a range of classes to suit your energy level, your time schedule, and your capability. On our website you will find a Club Locator. Click on ‘classes’ for what’s on at your closest gym.

  • Moms-to-be and new moms: our yoga instructors are trained to assist pregnant women by modifying the sessions for them. Ladies who are pre-natal or post-partum are welcome to chat to instructors ahead of any one of our classes to find out more before taking up a new class. Many of our Personal Trainers are skilled in training their clients through, and post pregnancy.

Motherhood is a whirlwind!

Our PLANET is a space to reset, refocus, and rejuvenate. As a mum of young children, or teens – carving out the time to prioritise your health and wellbeing will give “time-out” a whole new meaning!
