Men need a bit of head space – hitting the gym is often a great way to de-stress, shift gear, and get those reps in! Are you the guy who comes to your gym club, clamps on headphones, stands in front of a mirror, and lifts weights? Doing your own thing at the gym is great – but man, you are missing OUT if you don’t get with the 2024 group exercise programme! 💪🏽

Why more men should try out fitness classes!

Men like to add muscle, build strength, lose body weight, and push performance. Functional fitness zones, tech-savvy workout equipment, and free weights – we’ve got it all at Planet Fitness!

But why not bolt something new onto your weekly routine? Cross-training has soared in popularity and classes are adding a new dimension – where group training ticks boxes in men’s fitness and reduces the monotony of routine! 85-90% of people prefer working out in class together, and the science behind it shows that group exercise is a motivator!

We have a workout for that

HIIT Boxing, 4ORCE (a new functional training programme), Bootcamp, and BodyBurn are just some of the programmes at Planet Fitness SA that will activate just about every muscle group in your body, push your cardio, and have you sweating faster than you can say AMRAP!

Why group fitness classes are beneficial for men

Reasons Why Men Should Be Joining Group Classes:

Special classes and programs at Planet Fitness for men

Men don’t necessarily know if there’s a class that will specifically suit their fitness goals, so here to warm you up to the idea is Planet Fitness FIRE icon Papama (Phaps) Jali, our HIIT and strength training trailblazer!

FIRE classes:

When it comes to strength and muscle training, men enjoy Bootcamp and BodyBurn. If they push themselves hard on the squats and deadlifts, they will significantly improve their strength because they use nearly every muscle in their body. This can improve bone density.

If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”

A strong body makes the mind strong. Strength and HIIT classes boost metabolism, in addition to increased calorie burn and muscle strength.

WIND classes:

Well attended by men are the Indoor Cycle power output training classes, which require less choreography. These classes provide data on the efficiency of the workout by showing the highest average power output the rider can sustain during a one-hour effort. And Power Box classes simulate the feel of shadow boxing where men can blow off steam while building strength, speed, stamina, endurance, posture, rhythm, and footwork.

“The main goal is to maintain fitness and overall health – this includes weight loss or maintenance, aiding hypertrophy, improving strength, enhancing cardio performance, and reducing stress which men can find in ALL the classes including HIIT The Track, Step, and Aqua Fit” says Planet Fitness WIND and WATER icon, Yolisa Hamilton.

EARTH classes:

Real men do yoga! In fact, Planet Fitness EARTH icon, Geraldine Anderson says men mostly enjoy the heated yoga and heated Pilates, “I think they enjoy the sweat!”
